How to send a card to CartesGradées for pre-grading
Service temporarily paused: no card shipments accepted. Learn how to prepare your cards for a future launch.
01Submit your pre-grading request
⚠️ SERVICE TEMPORARILY PAUSED: CartesGradées is not currently accepting pre-grading requests or card shipments. Do not ship cards to our business, even if you know its address. This guide remains available for information only until the service officially opens.
Sign in to your CartesGradées account and open the pre-grading request form. Enter the number of cards, their details, the combined weight of the cards without packaging, and the return destination.
Provide the required front-and-back photos of each card. We review your request and confirm a quote that includes the assessment and tracked return shipping, based on your destination and parcel details.
- Start on the /pre-grading page
- Provide a front and back photo for each card
- Wait for the confirmed quote before shipping
02Approve the quote and wait for payment confirmation
Do not ship cards immediately after submitting the form. Dispatch is permitted only after you approve the quote, payment has been confirmed, and you receive our shipping instructions.
The service is currently being prepared: quote requests are available, but payment is not yet active. Do not send a parcel until your request has been explicitly cleared for shipping.
03Protect each card individually
Work on a clean, dry surface and handle each card by the edges. Gently place it in a clean, correctly sized soft sleeve (penny sleeve), then use an appropriate rigid or semi-rigid holder (Card Saver or top loader, depending on the instructions you received).
Never apply tape directly to a card or where it might catch the card surface. Avoid overly tight holders, and do not clean, polish or alter the card before the assessment.
- One suitable soft sleeve per card
- A holder that prevents bending
- No excessive pressure on corners or edges
04Pack a parcel that withstands handling
Place the protected cards between two sturdy cardboard sheets without overtightening. Add cushioning, such as bubble wrap, and use a strong outer box. The cards should not slide around or be squeezed during transit.
If a request reference was provided, include it according to your shipping instructions to help identify your submission. Photograph your cards before packing, as well as the sealed parcel and shipping label.
- Do not rely on an unpadded envelope alone
- Fill empty space so the cards cannot move
- Keep photographs of your packaging
05Ship to the correct address with mandatory tracking
Use only the receiving address supplied in your shipping instructions after your request is approved. Never ship cards to an address found online or directly to a third-party grading company.
You pay the outbound shipping cost, and a tracking number is mandatory. Keep proof of dispatch and check the carrier’s compensation limits, exclusions and coverage conditions for collectible cards.
The customer arranges and pays for outbound shipping. Insurance covering the value of the cards is optional but strongly recommended for valuable cards. Without suitable insurance, the customer may receive no compensation or only limited compensation in the event of a loss. Tracking is mandatory and signature on delivery is strongly recommended (some insurance policies require it). An insurer such as Secursus must be asked to confirm eligibility for sending collectible cards for pre-grading without a sale; coverage is not automatic. For loss, theft or damage before actual receipt by CartesGradées, the customer must seek compensation from the carrier and insurer, if applicable. CartesGradées does not arrange or insure outbound transport and does not guarantee compensation, without limiting liabilities imposed on it by law. Once cards are actually received, CartesGradées remains responsible for its own safekeeping and handling obligations.
- Ship only after you are authorised to do so
- Choose tracked shipping
- Keep your receipt, photographs and tracking number
- Outbound insurance is optional but strongly recommended: customers must check eligibility and policy terms
06View your estimated grade and receive your cards back
Once your cards arrive, we physically assess their centering, corners, edges and surface. One estimated overall grade out of 10 per card will be available in your account, according to the result-release option selected.
CartesGradées pre-grading is not official authentication or certification: cards are not encapsulated, no detailed report or subgrades are provided, and no result from PSA, Beckett, CGC or another grading company can be guaranteed.
Your cards will be returned with tracking under the terms of your confirmed quote. A conditional flat-rate return option may apply within mainland France; other cases are quoted individually.
- One estimated overall grade per card
- No official certification or slab
- Tracked return shipping under your quote
For general information only. Check the grader’s official submission rules, fees and turnaround times before shipping.
